The mysterious shopping nymph behind that mask is...
Sargie
August 3, 2020 - Monday evening
60 degrees/partly cloudy/breezy
Pentoga Road

Check out the Christmas decorations behind Sargie. It's barely August and already, the holiday goodies are hitting the retail shelves. It's no longer about celebrating Jesus's birth, but about making as much money as possible under the guise of the sacred holiday. It makes me sad. Really sad.

Monday started with walking four miles with Tim and Tim's son, Sam's, special friend, Haley. Both Sam and Haley are in the UP on vacation for the week.

Haley is entering her final year of undergraduate school, majoring in elementary education. She'll be doing her student teaching this coming semester.

It was fun to talk "teacher" as we clicked off the miles. With a pleasant and outgoing personality, there's little doubt my young friend will be a great educator.

Back from my walk, Sargie and I headed to Rhinelander. We made several stops, picking up blacktop sealer and groceries along the way. It was a busy shopping trip.

We stopped at McDonalds on the way home for Sargie's Coke. I gave in to temptation and bought an ice cream cone.

Across the highway was a filling station with the lowest gasoline prices in the area. Giving the cone a good lick, I floored the Blazer and we scooted across the busy road to the station.

Sargie poured her Coke from the plastic glass to an insulated one while I filled the tank.

I had no choice but to use one hand to fill the gas tank while the other held the ice cream cone as I licked around the edge. It was a first for me.

This evening has been a quiet one. I picked up a pizza in Rhinelander and we enjoyed that for supper. It'll be back to more sensible eating on Tuesday.

I'm going to finish patching what few cracks remain in the drive tomorrow morning. Following that, we hope to begin applying the sealer after a thorough cleaning of the pavement.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
