Pentoga Road
Darn it, where's my camera? I remember taking a few pictures yesterday, but after that, it's all a haze. Did I lay it down somewhere in the house last night? Did it drop out of my pocket later in the day and is lost?
I hate when this happens and the older I get, it's happening more frequently. I lay something down then have no recollection where it is.
Someday, I'll learn... or will I?
Golly, I love getting old. It's a thrill a minute.
Yesterday found me sitting in the dentist's chair. Come to find out, the tooth that I thought was cracked is just fine. Problem is, the root that's attached to my #3 ivory is dying. All the pain I've gone through has been caused by the infection due to the dying root.
I've been referred to an oral surgeon in Marquette and will be making an appointment today for, hopefully, later on this week. It's time to get this puppy taken care of.
We spent most the day shopping in Rhinelander at such distinguished places as Walmart and Aldi Foods. Amazing that we can trim a solid 50% off our grocery bill by shopping at Aldi's and we like their products.
Sargie found Christmas clearance bargains. Boy did she ever. Most were fifty to seventy-five percent off the pre Christmas price, so my girl felt as though she'd scored some treasures for next holiday season.
Me? I bought two packages of scroll saw blades at the home/lumber store.
I'm excited. I talked with Macrea last night to see if he might be interested in hiking the Rim to Rim Grand Canyon trail next fall. The boy didn't even hesitate and responded with a resounding YES.
We'll be looking at a September/October date after the extreme heat of the summer. Temperatures in the bottom top out over 130 degrees during the summer months. Sargie and Mel can do whatever it is they do for the two days that Macrea and I are trekking up and down the walls of North America's biggest hole in the ground. We'll also be making a three day hike along the shores of Lake Superior on the Picture Rocks trail in June.
So that's about all the news. Now where is that camera? It's bothering me.
I just woke Sargie for the day and she said she brought the camera in from the car last night. Problem is, we both had our hands full of groceries and the camera was randomly set somewhere. Just where remains a mystery.
Sargie works today. I'm going for my walk then I have some errands to do in town.
Now just where in the devil is that silly camera?
Time to go lookin'.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
We live in the Upper Peninsula of northern Michigan near the small ghost town of Pentoga Village and the Brule River. Family, friends, hiking, wood working, gardening, fishing, photography, and of course, writing, are my passions. Join me daily as I write about our lives and this magical place we call Pentoga Road.
