November 18, 2019 - Monday morning
31 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It's good to get away, but always good to get home. We pulled into the drive around 8 last night after a flawless trip, both south and north.

Sunday dawned a beautiful day in Terre Haute and we spent an hour or more with Mom before bidding her goodbye. Her care giver was due at any minute and we'd had a good talk.

We'll be back in Indiana in a few weeks to celebrate Christmas with Mom, either there or to bring her back to the UP with us. We're playing that one by ear. Either way, we'll see Mom next month.

The ten hour drive home went without a hitch. In fact, it was one of the better ones we've had. Traffic was light and we made good time coming up the interstate. Best of all, the car averaged over 37 miles to the gallon, so fuel stops weren't quite so painful.

We shopped for a while at the In Home store in Appleton, Wisconsin. They have all kinds of things that would be nice if a person's wallet was deep enough. Of course, Christmas goodies are featured in more than half the store and the temptation to buy this, that, or the other, is great. Since we'd already bought some Christmas lights and decor on Friday afternoon, it wasn't difficult to resist purchasing more.

It didn't take long for the house to warm Sunday night. Sargie unloaded the car while I opened the back living room and got a fire going in the wood stove. It wasn't long before were were changed into our nighttime jammies and plopped in our favorite chairs.

Neither of us work today and I doubt much will happen on Pentoga Road. It's going to feel good to be lazy for a day. Having driven over a thousand miles this past weekend, we're a bit road weary.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
