March 19, 2019 - Tuesday
19 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

We're up and around fairly early as I have my semi annual appointment with Dr. Katie this morning. Other than pure orneriness, I don't believe there's a thing wrong with me, but it's time to re-up my blood pressure and cholesterol medication.

Hey, check out these tracks I encountered on yesterday's walk. I believe, due to the round print, that they are those of a bobcat, but it's difficult to tell for certain due to the melting ice and snow.

I'll have to ask my son, Luke. He'd be able to tell me for certain.

I worked for most of Monday morning in the shop on the bobcat intarsia. Boy, it's proving to be a bit challenging as some of the pieces are tiny, no wider than a round toothpick. I broke a couple and had to remake and sand those before continuing on.

Once again, it was a good thing Mama wasn't nearby to listen to my muttering or my mouth would have been washed out with soap for sure.

I find as I grow older that I'm having tremors where my hands tend to shake a bit while I'm doing exacting work. I asked Katie about it some time ago and it seems it's caused by good, old-fashioned, age.

Ah, ain't growing old fun?

Monday afternoon was spent with the Bobkitties in Florence. As the PE teacher, I played four, back-to-back games of kickball and, no pun intended, had a ball.

I had to laugh during the fifth grade class. The boys wanted to play the girls. I put it up to a class vote and the girls were all for it. What the manly boys didn't realize is that many of those girls play softball and honestly, were far superior in catching and throwing.

Score: girls - 5      boys - 2

There's little doubt that the egos of those pre-testosterone boys will heal with time.

I arrived home later in the afternoon and after a quick half hour grandpa nap, made my way outside to carry in the night's firewood and fiddle around removing more ice from the drive. More bare places are showing and the remaining ice is growing thinner by the day. It won't be long... I hope.

Sargie was home early and we had a quiet evening. I spent most of it browsing the internet looking at hydraulic pumps for the back hoe. There's nothing wrong with the current pump, but after talking to the manufacturer, I learned a bigger one would move the boom faster. Chances are, I'll probably not do anything. As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

No doubt we'll run an errand or two while in Iron Mountain today. Heck, after we visit the recycling center, I might even treat my girl to a burger and fries. You know, a real date.

Just call me romantic.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
