Sargie and Sasha |

Pentoga Road
We stopped by Sasha's work place today with the mother/child intarsia piece I'd made for her last month. The way I was going, her baby would have graduated from college before Sasha got her present. Since we were in Iron Mountain today, we thought there was no time like the present.
My appointment with Dr. Katie went well and I walked out feeling healthy. It was good to catch up with my young friend and later, Katie, Sargie, and I, made plans for Katie and family to come over this spring when it finally gets warm. We'll try to have Grady at the same time so he and the boys can play. The last time they were together, they had a great time.
Sargie and I ran a few errands and yes, I took my girl out for a burger. It was a great date and we had a wonderful day.
Back home... wait a minute, what was that?
Pounding in the kitchen?
I'd purchased a metal monogram as a gift for Sargie at Christmas. It didn't arrive on Pentoga Road until a couple of weeks ago.
With a level, hammer, and brads in hand, Sargie was busy mounting the monogram on the wall.
Yup, it's official. There's a Mighty Milligan in house.
I've had thoughts of bringing the backhoe up to the barn, changing the fluids, and getting it ready for another season of digging. A larger garden pond is on this summer's agenda.
I removed the cover from the engine, said a silent prayer to the god of engines, and pulled. The motor fired on the second pull and was soon idling, ready for work.
Only one problem. S N O W.
I thought I might be able to dig the machine out of the snow using the bucket.
... and I could have, except I'd have had to dig through several feet of snow all the way up to the barn.
I made the executive decision to wait until it's melted.
Sargie and I played outside for a couple of hours while chipping away at the ice on the drive. She especially delighted in making canals, damming the flow of water, then letting it go in a rush towards the road.
By afternoon's end, much of the ice had been removed with more bare pavement showing than anytime in the past several months.
Sargie's back to work tomorrow. I'm going for my walk bright and early then plan to spend the rest of the day in the shop... unless Neal calls and needs me at the bobkitty den.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
We had leftovers for supper tonight. Mine? A sandwich with both pork and a hamburger, two of my favorite food groups. |
