Tis the season to plow snow |
20 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Once again we're under a winter storm warning. Area schools are cancelled and it feels like the calm before the storm. Two or three inches of snow fell during the night in what seems to be a precursor of what lies ahead.
Sargie's scheduled to open this morning. Since the worst of the storm is not to arrive until late morning, she'll begin with an eye on the weather. Her coworker is to come in at noon so worse case scenario, Sargie can be home early this afternoon before it gets too bad.
I had a good day yesterday. Florence Schools had a two hour delay due to the six inches of snow that had fallen during the night, so I was able to clear the drive and deck before leaving.
The kiddies, both high school and elementary, were good as gold and I enjoyed the day.
Someday I'm going to remember that I'm no longer in my teens. I was teaching third grade PE Wednesday afternoon about relay races. One of the teams was short a munchkin to make both even. Who filled in? Why Mr. P of course!
In fifth grade, we played a good old fashioned game of kick ball and once again, who played full bore?
Uh huh. The old professor. For a man who should know better, he's sure not very bright, but oh, it was fun.
So ask me if I'm stiff and sore this morning. Naw, don't even ask. You already know the answer.
I changed clothes after arriving home and took the snowmobile to Jambo's to clear his drive and yard. After airing up a low tire, I began.
No problems there. I love the blade on his four wheeler. It's curved to where it not only pushes the snow, it also rolls it, making the whole process much easier. I'd like to have one of those blades someday when I grow up.
Since Sargie had to close last night, I enjoyed a big ol' mess of chicken gizzards along with mashed potatoes, one of most favorite meals. Sargie never developed the taste for gizzards so she doesn't mind. In fact, she encourages me to eat them when she's working late.
Sargie will leave early this morning in the Blazer with the four wheel drive ready to work at the push of a button. I'm going to head out to the shop and continue sawing, painting, and turning on the lathe while worrying about Sargie getting home.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
