After yesterday's ice storm, we ventured to town Tuesday afternoon
February 5, 2019 - Tuesday evening
13 degrees/clouds/calm winds
Pentoga Road

According to Carl the Weatherman, there's a decent chance that we'll receive up to seven inches of snow tonight. If that's not bad enough, another twenty or more could fall on Thursday. Put all that on top of the ice, coupled with blustery northwest winds and there'll be plenty of stuck cars, downed power lines, and fallen trees.

Monday morning was spent in the shop making and painting flowers.

I had everything cleaned up so nice in the shop, but after working, there wasn't a bare place on the work table.

I grew tired of hot glue, cutting, and painting, so I turned my attentions to sawing the pieces of the intarsia that will eventually make up Chief.

It will probably be this weekend before I have a chance to continue work on either piece. With those, plus the rest of the shower gifts I've promised to make, then add a present, and holy cow, it's going to be a busy time in the shop over the next two-and-a-half weeks.

We made our way to town later this afternoon and picked up what was needed for the Kia at the auto parts store.

We later dropped everything off at Mechanic Dave's. Whew, the Kia doesn't look so hot without all the front pieces.

With any luck at all, Sargie's little car will be up and running within a few days.

I took a quick snowmobile ride to our neighbor, Sue's, to check on her. She's doing fine along with her cat BB.

A trip to Neighbor Mike's was uneventful. His furnace is running and the trees are still standing upright.

I can't say we fared quite as well. I rode the snowmobile down the middle trail and noticed at least one huge spruce tree had come crashing to the ground during the ice storm.

The tree will be cut up this summer and fed to the outdoor furnace next winter. It makes no difference what kind of wood is used as long as it burns.

Sargie and I both are supposed to work tomorrow. I'll be the high school/elementary PE teacher in Florence. Sargie is scheduled to close the Vision Center.

Hopefully, we'll be able to make it off Pentoga Road. Sargie will drive the four-wheel drive Blazer. I'll take the Equinox. Though it is only two-wheel drive, it does fairly well in snow.

If I can't make it, hey, I'll try to get back home. They'll have to get a sub for the sub. We'll hope that doesn't happen.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
