Monday was the Florence Elementary Book Fair
and who was the librarian?
Me
November 5, 2018 - Monday evening
36 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It's a short one tonight. Sargie's on her way home, the evening's getting on, and I'm tired. Just one more day and I'll be finished substitute teaching for a week or two... I hope.

Today was hectic. The regular librarian is off to a workshop somewhere downstate. Boy, her timing was perfect. She missed the annual Book Fair.

Actually, it wasn't all that bad. Several parent volunteers were there to ensure it all ran smoothly. Mostly, I directed traffic and occasionally kept a lid on a few overly enthusiastic Bob Kitties. The day went by quickly and as soon as I was finished with bus duty, I skedaddled on home.

A fire was built in the outside wood furnace, another in the wood stove in the house. I changed clothes, grabbed a snack, and headed to the shop.

I can't believe over two hours were spent sorting the contents from two baskets that have been calling our kitchen junk drawer home. They're where we throw the errant nail, screw, left over wall anchor, or any other item that we don't know what to do with. After seven years, the baskets were full to overflowing.

I came back in a bit ago, heated some leftovers, flopped on my backside, and haven't really moved since.

It's time to get Sargie's supper heated. She's had a very long day and will no doubt, be tired and hungry. This is one of those days that we're meeting each other coming and going.

I'd better get moving. Florence Elementary School's library will be open for business bright and early in the morning.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
