Shhh, what's that noise?

Oh yeah, it's called silence, the lack of political advertising commercials and robo calls that have been inundating our lives for the past month or longer. Thankfully, the election is over. Like the rest of the nation, I've about had it up to my eye teeth in politics.

Hey, I'm free today. Once again, I can go back to being the retired guy that I once was, at least for a few days.

Tuesday went well. With the Book Fair happening next to the computer lab, it was a bit hectic, but we all survived.

It's amazing. The younger the student, the easier it is to teach computers. I'm amazed that each knows exactly what to do, when to do it, and how absolutely fascinated all are with any type of digital learning.

These Bobkitties are the same age as Grady. You didn't hear a peep from any during the entire class time.
I emerged from Florence Elementary unscathed yesterday afternoon with a big smile on my face. Five teaching days in a row is about all this old pawpaw can do. I'm looking forward to putting in some quality shop time between now and Thanksgiving.

Sargie and I voted yesterday afternoon then rescued the Blazer from the mechanic's. There's still a potential problem or two having to do with the injectors, but for now, it's fixed. I still believe that keeping an older vehicle in dependable running shape is less expensive in the long run than purchasing one that is still used, but newer. In other words, I'd rather fix my own problems than someone else's.

Plus, there's something rather unique about our old Blazer. It's paid for.

That crazy Yooper Brother Mark's hunting blind must be set up in the North Woods Zoo this year.

He seems to have found the corner on not only the big bucks, but the occasional wolf. He said the canine at the top of the page came along shortly after two small fawns had wandered through.

Sargie opens the Vision Center today. I'm going to fire up the wood furnace as soon as she leaves and head out to the shop. It's my intention to spend part of the day turning on the lathe and some time sitting in front of the scroll saw. If it's not raining or snowing, I may begin cutting up one of the several huge spruce trees that died last year due to the spruce bud worm to use in the wood furnace. Spruce is considered a junk wood for burning, but the furnace will consume anything combustable. Might as well take advantage of what is available.

At Mississippi Brother Garry's suggestion, I want to utilize one of our old coolers and fashion a freeze-proof craft paint container to keep in the shop. I carried the paints back and forth from the house to the shop last year and simply put, it was just plain cumbersome.  I'll use a small light bulb to keep the small jars from freezing.

OK, it's now daylight and time to get a move on, pack Sargie's lunch and make breakfast.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
