The warm weather may still be with us, but no one told this tree. |
67 degrees/sunny/calm winds
Pentoga Road
I refuse to complain about our current hot and muggy conditions. Today's high is to reach 83 degrees, certainly a contrast from the forecast for next Sunday when the thermometer is to climb only to 56 degrees with rain.
No, we'll take the warmth for now. As I told someone earlier, it's too bad we can't bottle it up and enjoy some later this winter.
Arriving home from Iron Mountain Saturday morning, Jambo and I decided it was time to go fishing. He and his son, Dr. Paul, had just finished splitting firewood, so I rode back to the rental place with Mike to return the splitter. We hooked onto the trailer afterwards and made our way to the lake.
It was the wrong time of day to catch crappies, entirely too sunny and warm. Still, enough were caught to provide a meal for Jambo and Germaine.
I had to laugh. We were busy doing our thing when a family came paddling by in kayaks. Much as I had done with Hambone a couple of weeks ago, Daddy had the little guy in tow.
The munchkin kayaker was jabbering a mile a minute and was happy to talk with us as they slowly made their way past.
Twenty minutes later, they came from the opposite direction. Seems all that hard work of being towed by Daddy was too much. The little guy was sound asleep.
I've decided to see if I can get Sargie to tow me around the lake. She can paddle while I take a nap. Works for me.
It was two tired old men who arrived back on Pentoga Road late in the afternoon. Neighbor Mike and I both agreed that the sun was brutal.
Sargie arrived home early last night and we enjoyed a true summertime meal.
Freshly cut asparagus, tomatoes, cottage cheese, and hamburgers from the grill |
Sargie's off from the Vision Center today and tomorrow. I'm going to watch the Packers play the Vikings before we enjoy our afternoon ride and no doubt, go fishing this evening.
It's time to grab a cup of coffee then head to the garden to feed the goldfish.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
