May 21, 2018 - Monday evening
54 degrees/partly cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Spring continues on Pentoga Road with blue skies and warm daytime highs. Hopefully, Sunday's overnight low of 27 was the last of the cold temperatures for the year. Thankfully, I'd covered the plants and all survived to grow another day.
I took advantage of the beautiful day to go fishing Monday morning.
Fishing was okay and several "eaters" were put in the fish basket.
The bluegills aren't huge by any means, but they are tasty. Besides, what can be better than enjoying a warm, sunny, day while sitting on a small lake catching fish?
I was home shortly after noon and decided the time had come to start the man truck for the year. I had no idea if it had any life what so ever, but after putting the recently charged battery back under the hood, the beast started on the first try.
It felt good to bounce down the trail and later, haul dirt back to the yard. I've been digging boulders that were heaved towards the surface this spring and there are more than a few holes to fill.
At one point, the truck began running rough and finally quit. Though the needle on the gas gauge still flickered a tiny bit, it acted as though the tank had run dry. Sure enough, after adding a gallon of gas, plus a random can of old carburetor cleaner, the engine once again roared to life.
It appears one more load of dirt should suffice for the time being and after, the old truck can sit once again for another year.
I spent some time in the shop laminating three pieces of wood for a Memorial Day project. Initially, I ran into all kinds of problems so I called Mississippi Brother Garry for advice. As always, he had the answers I needed. Hopefully, I can start actually working on the project tomorrow morning.
My Sargie was home early tonight and we enjoyed grilled hamburgers and the fixins' for supper.
Sargie has tomorrow off and we're talking about going fishing. No doubt, we'll also work in the yard. I know she bought some flowers today and they'll need to find a home in any one of our flower boxes.
I'm going to work in the shop first thing in the morning while Sargie's sleeping in. Memorial day will be here before we know it.
It's getting late and time for bed. Come to think of it, I might join Sargie and sleep in a bit myself.
Escargot anyone? |
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
