I'm going to enter Sargie into some future fishing tournaments. She put on a clinic yesterday showing me how it's done.
May 23, 2018 - Wednesday morning
44 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

I well remember when Sargie and I first went fishing several years ago. I had to teach her even the most elementary basics.

Now she's teaching me a thing or two. I'm beginning to think the girl ought to have her own outdoor fishing show.

Let me back up a bit. I was in the garden by 6 AM Tuesday morning. Over four hours were spent cleaning, weeding, repairing, and doing anything else to get it ready for the coming summer. I'll mow the grass in the middle for the first time later today.

The best news is that both grape vines made it through the winter. I'm looking forward to watching them crawl their way up the trellis and over the arch at the entrance to the garden.

Sargie and I did, indeed, make our way to the lake around noon. I've already told you her story. The girl was on fire. We caught twenty five decent bluegills to bring home.

It was a gorgeous day, just enough breeze to keep from getting too hot, yet sunny and pleasantly warm.

Sargie snapped this photo of a turtle enjoying the warm temperatures.
As is always the case, the afternoon was moving all to quickly and it was time to come home. All was going well until I went to load the boat.

Try as I may, I couldn't get the USS Pentoga to line up so I could pull it onto the trailer. It finally happened, but not until my shorts got wet. Honestly, it didn't feel too bad. The water is already fairly warm and my shorts quickly dried.

Back home, we worked in the yard, Sargie planted flowers, and I fiddled around doing one thing or the other.

When I say I'm digging rocks from the yard, I'm not talking about mere stones.
We were a couple of tired kids who came in the house last evening. I'd cut more asparagus and we both stood at the sink preparing it for supper.

How best to fuel the tank after a long day of work and catching fish? Have a big supper!

Fresh asparagus, fish, and cottage cheese, all fuel for the tired body.

Sargie's back to work today. I'm going to mow the lawn that has suddenly taken off after the quarter of an inch of rain we received a couple of days ago. There are a few flowers I need to plant, then with a high of 85 forecast, I hope to spend the hottest part of the day in my shop which is always pleasantly cool. Looks to be a busy one.

Mama Swallow is back again this year looking over the back yard
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
