A firewood crew surprised us Sunday morning

Pentoga Road

It's been a fun day on Pentoga Road. Macrea called this morning asking what we were doing. Mel traveled to Chicago for a girl's weekend with friends, so he and Grady were doing their own thing.

The boys arrived mid morning. I fixed French toast, eggs, and bacon for brunch. We enjoyed our meal while catching up on life.

I went outside later and began working up the firewood in the trailer. Grady and his daddy followed and soon, Macrea manned the splitter.

The two of us made quick work of the wood and the trailer was soon empty.

Grandma Sargie and Hambone spent some time watering the flowers.

While Grandma Sargie wasn't looking, Grady picked her a beautiful bouquet of trilliums and dandelions.

The four of us hopped in the Blazer and pulled the trailer back to Yooper Mark's plant to be filled once again with wood. While in town, we made a stop at one of Hambone's favorite places, the park.

Back home, the others became interested in a television program. I disappeared outside to mow the main trail going to the back of the property.

It was the first time I'd mowed that area this year.

We know Macrea really likes fish. We had those from our outing last week and found a few more in the freezer. Sargie made the batter, Macrea assisted, and I did the frying.

The fish and French fries were to-die-for good.

The boys left for Iron Mountain earlier this evening. They'd just pulled out of the drive when Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri pulled in.

We harvested some rhubarb for Sheri's 4H group and also cut some asparagus to send home with them.

I covered the garden again tonight. Mark just texted saying he heard on the radio that we're to have a low of thirty overnight. As I told him, better safe than sorry.

Sargie is back at the Vision Center on Monday. The weather for this week is to be near perfect. With that in mind, I think I'll head to the lake in the morning for an hour or two. After, I'll be back in the garden and yard and finally, I hope to spend some quality time in the shop.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
