Sunrise on Monday morning
December 20, 2017 - Wednesday
14 degrees/partly cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It appears our respite from cold temperatures has come to an end. I see a forecast for lows  in the minus teens over the next ten days with a high on Christmas Day of -4.

Monday was a relaxing one on Pentoga Road. I began the morning with my usual walk.

I opted for the four mile route which takes me "around the block." As usual, I saw plenty of wildlife, mostly turkeys and deer.

Mom needed a prescription refilled and with a bit of phone work, she was able to do that at the drug store in Crystal Falls. The people there really bent over backwards to accommodate Mom. Nice folks.

We took a bit of a drive after, looking at different houses, Christmas decorations, and of course, the ice conditions on a lake or two.

Back home, work began on a growth chart for Hambone. I spent some time looking at designs and finally began.

What took the most time was setting up the table saw that was needed for one beveled cut on a 1x6 board. I've decided that I will definitely add onto the shop next summer.

Mom was out in the kitchen and took a chill, so just like in the days of old when she'd tuck a blanket in around my chin, legs, under my arms, then give me a quick tickle, almost sixty-five years later, I returned the favor.

I even got her to giggle, just like I once did.

Sargie arrived home early and we enjoyed big, steaming, bowls, of left over beef stew for supper. After, I helped Sargie carry in her large wrapping table and she resumed her work of making Christmas magic happen.

Sargie closes tonight, another long long day for her. Mom and I need to go to the hardware store  for a couple of things. We might even pick up a Coke while in town and take a bit of a drive, looking, sipping, and gabbing.

I'm going to lay newspapers on the floor and begin painting the growth chart in the living room so I can keep Mom company and be snuggy warm at the same time.

Meanwhile, the coffee's done and I hear it calling my name.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales tales from Pentoga Road...
