It was a dark, wet, and very warm, Monday in the UP.
December 5, 2017 - Tuesday
28 degrees/snow flurries/windy
Pentoga Road

The temperatures are plummeting and the wind is howling. I'm going to assume the cold front marched through sometime in the middle of the night. It arrived in a fury. Pinecones being blasted against the side of the house woke me in the middle of the night. Summer's over.

What? No World Wide Web this morning? Blankety blank blank son of a blankety blank blank.

Dang.

Seems as though the internet is out more than it's on these days. Honestly, if I could find any way, other than satellite, to be online, I'd go with it. Since we live in a valley surrounded by trees, even cellular data is difficult to come by. Remote living in the boonies has its occasional drawbacks.

Other than a quick trip to town for some basics, saw blades, poly, epoxy and the like, Monday was spent in the shop working on a puzzle, but mostly the snowman... or in this case, a snow lady.

Finishing the main body, I turned my attentions to making the head, which in reality, is nothing more than an oddly shaped bowl.

The hat was then turned to fit snug and at last, I was ready to begin painting.

All work was halted late in the afternoon to go see Neighbor Mike and his guests, Terry and Jeff. For whatever reason, the camera was left at home, so I didn't get any pictures of the boys.

We had a great time, gabbing and laughing, and I like the fact that Mike's friends have become mine. They're good guys and I look forward to their visits at Mike's camp.

Sargie was home late after closing the Vision Center resulting in a quick evening before bed time. She opens extra early this morning so the poor girl is, once again, meeting herself coming and going.

The roads are snow covered and slippery this morning. Combined with strong winds, her forty mile commute through the north woods could be less than pleasant.

Despite the winds and rapidly dropping temperatures, I'm going to walk this morning before heading to the shop. I now know the stress Santa and the elves feel in their final preparations for Christmas.

The snow lady still needs her eyes finished, a mouth, some arms, a leg or two, and of course, some finer snow lady clothing.

Speaking of Santa and the elves, your's truly will be dressing as the Jolly Old Elf at an event Thursday evening. It's a first for me, one I'm looking forward to. More about that tomorrow.

Back at the ranch, I need to turn and paint another snowman in the next week and it seems for every puzzle I complete, there's another one to make. If only you had my life, you'd understand.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
