Hambone the Super Hero!
September 12, 2017 - Tuesday
46 degrees/clear skies - fog/calm winds
Pentoga Road

I recently received several pictures of someone I barely knew. The Grady I'm acquainted with is a regular little guy. The boy pictured is a super hero.

Running to the clothesline to choose which super hero he will be for the day. Note, he's still proudly wearing his new boots.
Seems Grandma Kristen, a professional photographer, snapped a few pictures of Hambone last weekend while he was fighting the do'ers of evil everywhere.

Shooting at the old Ford Motor plant in Kingsford, a local constable arrived just in time to see what a real action hero does.

Grady assured the officer that everything was under control and not to worry.

He even shared a few tips on how to fight crime and taught him a super hero move or two.

By afternoon's end, they were best friends.

The policeman drove off to the east, Grady, west into the sunset, each pledging to fight evil everywhere.

"... faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive....

Able to leap off tall buildings in a single bound.

 Look up in the sky...

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Super Hambone!"

Meanwhile, back on boring old Pentoga Road...

Monday was a busy one. I took the opportunity to spray the exterior of the house for cluster flies early in the morning before the wind began to blow. I sprayed what I could from the ground, then used the ladder to get up on the roof of the garage and living room to spray around the second floor windows.

Not a bad view from the garage roof
I noticed while I was on the living room roof that the trim around our bedroom windows badly needed scraping and painting.

I spent the remainder of the morning doing just that. After the paint dried, I applied a new bead of caulk to be sure no nook or cranny will leak in the future.

While on the roof, I took the opportunity to look around and observe Pentoga Road from a different perspective.

If you look really close, you can see the internet antenna at the top of that large spruce tree.

Forty feet off the ground, the height is needed to receive the signal from a tower two miles away.

I worked on moving more items from the barn and the shop to the storage container.

Several trips were made with the little four wheeler stacked as full as possible.

On a roll, I mowed and trimmed the yard Monday afternoon. Though it didn't really need it, some areas were looking rather scruffy.

A local farmer has been cutting and baling Neighbor Mike's hay and I hadn't been up to check on his progress.

The camera doesn't do the scene justice. First off, the picture can't convey the smell of the freshly mown hay.

Second, though I couldn't the see the field, I know it was more beautiful than any story a picture can tell. It was a perfect late summer setting.

Sargie had to close Monday night and wasn't home until quite late. She closes again tonight so it will be the same song, second verse.

I'm going to do some pavement work first thing this morning. I have a large pail of heavy blacktop mix and hope to fill in several low places along the side of the drive and form several curbs with which to direct water, mostly next spring's runoff.

It's time to get Sargie's lunch packed and think about breakfast.

A beautiful monarch butterfly. We've seen several this summer, the first in many years.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
