The best looking Packers cheerleader around, Isabella |

46 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road
I was sitting on the couch early Tuesday morning when I felt I was being watched. It's not the first time this had happened. I slowly turned around and found these two deer staring back at me.
Thank goodness for the electric deer fence. Without it, the garden would be chomped right down to the ground.
There are pumpkins growing near the fence, yet outside the perimeter of garden. The deer won't go near those for fear of being shocked.
Good. I hope it stays that way.
Other than work in the shop for an hour and a half Tuesday morning, the only other activity was going fishing.
I was going to do the pavement work, but then it occurred to me that I'm retired. I can be lazy and still feel guilt free.
So much was planned, but the day was absolutely perfect. There wasn't a hint of a breeze and the thermometer registered in the mid 70's. A person would be crazy to not go fishing!
The trees are rapidly changing now. Areas to the east are filled with brilliant red and orange colors. |
I have the best looking barber around and love it when Sargie runs her fingers through my long, wavy, locks. Still, I'd like to have one of these caps. |
Fishing was slow, really slow, but at least no one can accuse me of being skunked.
The small lure is almost bigger than the baby small mouth bass. |
I'd earlier parboiled a couple of chicken quarters and wanted to finish them on the grill, but remembered we were out of barbecue sauce. You can't cook chicken on a gas grill without barbecue sauce.
What to do. What to do?
In the end, I made my own. Get a bunch of catsup, apple vinegar, brown sugar, and a few other ingredients too numerous to mention, stir it all together, let it boil for an hour on the stove, and presto, barbecue sauce is born.
It took longer than expected, but last night's supper was near perfection.
Chicken, along with cottage cheese and a baked potato dug from the garden made a great supper.
Sargie didn't arrive home until almost bedtime. Needless to say, we talked quickly to catch up on the news of the day before turning in for the night.
Sargie opens today and should be home late this afternoon. With fishing out of my system, at least for a few days, I'm going attempt to finish the shop this morning then do the pavement work this afternoon.
The surface of both lakes was so smooth that it looked as though God had placed a pane of glass on each. |
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
