64 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
OK, I lied. There's nothing to say other than it appears the garden will be somewhat less than stellar this season.
We received 7.2 inches of rain yesterday, a daunting amount for even a hardy Gulf Coast hurricane dweller.
Lake Pentoga is overflowing. Water is running from the front meadow through the side yard, the garden, and under the road. Top soil from the garden and wood chips that once were in the rows are scattered over the front yard.
Seven years of semi dwarf apple tree snapped with one big gust of wind. |
And so, it is what it is. A spring's worth of planting, trimming, mowing, and dreaming just washed down the drain... or wherever it is that flood water goes.
At least there's one positive. I don't have to mow the side yard, meadows, or trails, before Mom's party. I was going to mow the front and back yards today, but that's not going to happen either.
Looks like a good afternoon to take a nap.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
