Despite the "NO GURLZ ALLOWED" sign hanging in the shop, Mom not only supervised while I cleaned, she also commandeered my chair!

Pentoga Road

Once again, I find myself behind the eight-ball in the time department. It's a busy busy time on Pentoga Road these days.

Water? Anyone want water? I'll simply post the pictures and you can see for yourself.

I assumed the garden pond had overflowed the night before last, but was surprised to find a sucker, one added to help keep the bottom clean, swimming about forty feet away in a small lake surrounding the spaghetti squash. He was returned to the pond and as of now, I have the filters on overtime in an attempt to clean the water.

A river flowed down the road that we normally use on the other side of the garden. Water was flowing along the main trail, into Lake Pentoga, then through the garden and under the road.

At one point, the broccoli was completely submerged with flowing water eating away at the dirt around the roots. I'm assuming the cucumbers that normally grow up the trellis are somewhere across the road lying in Neighbor Mike's field.
It was hard to see years of hard work, that of developing good top soil and compost, washed away in one day, but that's life. We'll make due with what we have this year then pick up the gardening pieces and begin anew next spring.

With rain in the forecast for Saturday, I decided to clean the barn and pressure wash the floor. Moving the equipment to Neighbor Mike's, the barn can serve as an overflow hangout place should we need it Saturday afternoon. I also got a good start on cleaning the shop.

Sargie was home early last night and we enjoyed an evening filled with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and while watching American Ninja Warrior. Mom really enjoys the competition and I'm trying to talk her into becoming the first ninety-year old competitor. So far, my suggestion has been met with deaf ears, but I'm planning on remedying that by purchasing new batteries for her hearing aids.

We're on our way to the insurance agency and will make a stop after at the Division of Motor Vehicles. Mom says she's finished driving so we'll be adding her 2007 Chevrolet Equinox to our fleet of motor vehicles. With only 33,000 miles, the Chevy has, literally, been driven only by a little old lady once a week to church.

I better watch my mouth. There are three words the matriarch of five-generations, Mom, doesn't care for. LITTLE OLD LADY... unless you include FROM PASADENA on the end and then it's perfectly okay.

Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny GO!

Time to get busy.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

The hollyhocks (flowers) or "Auntie Hollyhocks" as Grady calls them, that he planted on Saturday were fully submerged.
