The family lineage continues to expand with the addition of another Pennington, Bennet David. Hmm, Ben, Benny, Benois, Bennet? All this and more will, no doubt, be revealed in the days to come. Matt reported that both mama and baby are doing just fine. Congratulations, kids. We love you.

I was up extra early this morning, no doubt in anticipation of hearing some news of the new baby. Matt had sent a text last night saying Jess was in the hospital and things were about to happen. I'd say they did.

Four sons - eight grandbabies. Four girls/four boys. Those four Pennington boys of mine are doing okay, eh? Excuse me, I'm simply having a grandpa moment. Of course, Grady makes a fifth grandson... nine in all. That's constitutes a clan and I like that. I like that a lot.

Speaking of grandsons, we had a good time with Grady yesterday.

I took advantage of Grady sleeping late on Thursday to sneak out to the shop and work on the strawberry pyramid.

Since I have such a difficult time reading a tape measure, I have begun making templates and jigs for repetitive measurements. It works well. Here, I simply have every five inches marked on a separate board for the horizontal shelves and can mark straight across.
Once the frame was finally complete, the rest seemed to go quickly.

Not having a central dust collecting system, I tied a plastic bag onto the table saw to collect the sawdust as it flies out the back. Seems to work pretty well.
Presently, there are only four more boards needed to complete the first planter. I hope to install the four-pipe irrigation system today and mount the solar light on top. That will be one down with several more to go.

Sister-in-law Nancy had lost her wireless internet after a well-meaning soul attempted to increase the speed of her connection.

Sargie and I went over to their home on Milligan Mountain last week and I worked on the wireless routers (one for DSL, the other to broadcast the signal throughout the home), but couldn't find the problem.

I took my router and computer yesterday to help eliminate the various components and it soon became obvious that the problem lay with her home router. To make a long story short, it was an IP address conflict. I changed one and presto, the problem was gone. I like when computer stories have happy endings.

While I was working on the internet, Grandma Sargie and Auntie Nancy were being entertained by Grady.

We arrived home by late afternoon and after carrying in wood and playing fetch with Brutus, I was ready to call it a day. Sargie made a huge chicken stew and later, Macrea stopped by for supper and to pick up Grady. He'd had to work in Ironwood, so the boys had stayed here Wednesday night and we kept Grady yesterday. After supper, Grady and his daddy left for Iron Mountain.

There seems to be a common component here. They live in Iron Mountain, we live outside of Iron River, and Macrea had to travel to Ironwood.

The quiz question of the day:

What mineral is commonly found in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan?

Answer: copper

It didn't take long for Sargie and I to head to bed after Grady and Macrea left. We were both tired after a busy day.

Sargie opens the Vision Center this morning, but has a rare two days off in a row beginning Saturday. I imagine we'll spend some of the time getting ready for our road trip to southern Mississippi to visit Mississippi Brother Garry and Jody. We're planning on leaving a week from today and taking two to three days to drive there.

I'm going to take my walk this morning then plan to work the rest of the day in the shop finishing the first pyramid. Other than that, who knows?

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
