Football's over for the year and I won't be watching another sporting event until next August. With last night's Bronco's victory over Carolina, it's time to think about this spring's NFL draft and move onto next season.
I sneaked out into the shop yesterday morning after writing and have two sides almost finished on the second pyramid. I was going great guns and getting rather cocky when I discovered that some measurements had been based from a wrong mark, probably a knot in the wood that I mistook for a pencil slash. First thing this morning will be to find out where the error was made and remove and fix whatever shelving was wrongly attached.
I quit working in the shop a bit earlier than planned so I could plow the three inches of snow that had fallen during the night. The day was forecast to be warm and I wanted as much to melt from the pavement as possible.
I wasn't the only person playing in the snow. Yooper Brother Mark sent this picture of Sheri, who was obviously enjoying the warm day.
It was late morning before Sargie and I made our way into town to pick up our loaves of bread and do a bit of shopping.
Back home, while Sargie was arranging a cheese and sausage plate to take to the Super Bowl gathering, I ordered petunia seed online. With all the flower planters and boxes we have, buying bedding plants is an expensive proposition. Since I'm set up for it and have the facilities, I might as well try to grow my own and save some money.
We left an hour early for Iron Mountain so I could purchase some more lumber at Home Depot. I bought enough to build two more pyramids.
We also did a bit more shopping before heading onto Jeanne and Boyd's.
It didn't take long for the family to arrive and the Super Bowl party began. One of the first orders of business was to get the family pool organized.
That's Jeanne who's playing with the money. Nephew Derek was the organizer. |
I'm not sure who won the big pool, but I'm relatively certain it wasn't Sargie or me.
We spent most of the pregame sitting around the large kitchen island, gabbing, talking, and eating. We enjoyed everything from shrimp, chips and dip, to pizza, wings, and lots of sweets. It was all healthy food, at least on Super Bowl Sunday.

Sargie and I bade everyone goodbye shortly after halftime and made it home in time to watch the last ten minutes of the game.

After a protracted leave of absence, Andy said he'll be returning to work this week.
There's no denying that baby. Ivy looks like a mini-me of Andy. |
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
