The honeyberry bushes are beginning to bloom in the orchard.

I'm not sure where today went. It doesn't seem I did that much, yet I remember the first time I looked at a clock... 1:30 PM. The next thing I knew, Sargie was pulling in the drive. Time goes fast when you're having fun.

I began the day with my usual five-mile walk. With the temperature in the low 40's, it felt good to hike right along.

Suddenly, there are wild flowers everywhere.
I began working around the yard immediately after. The hose needed to be run to the garden and the water barrel filled that stands beside the greenhouse.

I planted a few rows of peas then turned my attentions to transplanting several blueberry bushes from large pots into rows in the orchard.

I tie yellow ribbons on the small blueberry plants so I don't accidentally step on one.
I also transplanted the first tomato plant of the year. It was a Kibit, a small tomato from the Ukraine grown from seed that I saved from last year's crop. I'm three weeks early for planting delicate crops, but I'll keep my eye on this one in the planter and cover it at night.

This afternoon was spent making a vertical planter from one of the fireworks mortar tubes I got this past weekend.

It was surprisingly difficult to drill holes in the sides in which to plant the flowers. I cut smaller PVC pipe and drilled holes in that so the plants can be watered from the inside.
I harvested the first batch of asparagus of the spring. We enjoyed that along with pork roast and mashed potatoes for supper. It was delicious.

The first of the asparagus is beginning to grow to a harvestable size.
Sargie was home early tonight and we enjoyed a quiet evening while watching Dancing With the Stars. She closes tomorrow so it will be a long day for her. Other than weeding the asparagus patch, I'm not sure what's on my agenda. If the air is calm, I might try to go fishing.

Meanwhile, it's time to go to bed. No doubt, tomorrow will be a busy day.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
