The raised beds were completed on Sunday
May 3, 2015 - Sunday evening
60 degrees/cloudy/calm
Pentoga Road

It's going to be a race to see who's in bed first tonight. Sargie and I are about all done in.

I started the day working in the garden. There were still six raised beds to weed, fill, and repair.

Sargie was up early and started raking around the brown wood shed. It was a task she worked on the entire day.

At one point, she called to me saying she'd found something hard under the leaves and thought possibly, it might be a pipe. I came to investigate and found it was frost that had been well insulated by a large mound of leaves.

It was hot today, really hot. At one point, the thermometer registered 80 degrees in the shade. We'd been working in the sun for several hours and the heat took its toll on each of us. We were both exhausted by afternoon's end.

After showers, we stayed with our Sunday afternoon tradition and drove to town to purchase fried chicken at the grocery deli. It's becoming a Sunday afternoon tradition. I had called earlier and they put a fresh batch on to cook so it would be hot and crispy when we arrived. We brought it home and as always, it was delicious.

It's been a mellow evening. A batch of thunderstorms came through a while ago making a lot of noise, but dropping little rain. We lost our power for a few minutes, just enough to ensure every clock is blinking 12:00.

Sargie works early on Monday. Her three days of R&R are over.

After several days of nonstop projects, I'm going to take it a bit easier tomorrow, possibly getting the boat ready for another season of fishing. I think I'll work on this summer's session of classes for a while.

My collection of sunglasses. My eyes are so sensitive to sunlight that it's not uncommon for one pair to be in the shop, another in the living room, and a third in the kitchen. Today, all three pair just happened to be sitting on the table.

It's time to get ready for bed. We're tired and tonight, it seems as though it's going to be a lot of effort to climb those steps to the bedroom. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
