The trail cam at Neighbor Mike's has captured some great deer photos.

A sure sign of the season... a wooly caterpillar
Thursday was spent as a catch-up day on Pentoga Road. After sleeping in, I fixed pancakes for breakfast before heading out the door. The first order of business was to rake the leaves off and from around the back deck.

Sargie taught me sometime ago that the best way to move a large amount of leaves is to rake them onto a tarp and drag them into the woods.
The next order of business was to check the trail cam that I'd installed in a field at Neighbor Mike's. It was facing a pile of pumpkins and other garden waste that deer seem to find tasty.

Sargie and I went into town later in the afternoon. Insurance Liquidators was having a two-for-one sale for laundry detergent. We walked into another store to look for a couple of sale items and noticed they already have their Christmas merchandise on display.

I think it's far too early to begin the holiday season, but then no one asked me. I guess I wouldn't mind if the stores would put the meaning back into Christmas, but no doubt, company policy probably prohibits that as they might offend someone. I'm sounding old and crusty and very unChristianly. Never mind.

Sargie said she was going to call an old friend, so after we sang Happy Birthday to sister-in-law, Nancy, on the phone, I hooked up the boat trailer and went fishing.

The fall colors have turned from orange and red to yellow and brown, mostly popple and tamarac trees.
It's getting late in the season and all that I caught were small ones, too small to bring home. I think I'll give it another week and then it will be time to put the summer fishing gear and boat away and start to think about ice fishing.

Last night was spent watching the Biggest Loser while munching monstrous bowls of popcorn dripping with butter. There's something that seems horribly wrong with that whole scenario, but I'm happy to say the popcorn was delicious.

Sargie opens the Vision Center today. We're leaving extra early so I can get the car from the airport. It was dark Wednesday evening when I landed and we rode home together.

I'm not sure what today will bring. I should finish cleaning the garden, there's trim to replace around the garage door, primer to apply to the storage shed, a fish shack to ready for ice fishing season... and the list goes on and on.

But then, I'm not surprised. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Don't mess with this mama deer or you're liable to get a hoof applied to your backside.
