Sargie's saying, "Come with me into the enchanted forest of fake Christmas trees and I'll show you how to shop."

Pentoga Road

Our whirlwind trip to Green Bay on Saturday was a success. We left Pentoga Road around 8 AM and arrived home last night at dusk.

There's not a lot to report other than we made the usual rounds to purchase needed necessities.

Naturally, no trip to Green Bay would be complete without a drive-by of Lambeau Field where the Packers take on the Carolina Panthers later today.

I was amazed that one parking lot was already filled with tailgaters, more than a day early. Those people are true party animals!

Whether it was peanuts and paper goods at Sam's Club, or window shopping at Big Lots, we made the rounds. Being a serious shopper, I kept everything on the up-and-up. It's so hard to keep Sargie on task when she's power shopping.

There's one house in Green Bay that proudly proclaims its undying support of the Packers. I thought of doing the same to our home here on Pentoga, but Sargie has other thoughts. I've come to the conclusion that she's simply not as die-hard a Packer's fan as I am.

A big "G" mounted under the peak of the house with goal posts in the front yard? Sure, why not! Sargie says that's not going to happen. Sigh...
We had a pleasant trip home and stopped in Niagara, Wisconsin, last night to look at the fall colors along the Menominee River.

Brutus fared well on Saturday. He showed how much he missed us by engaging me in a wrestling match on the kitchen floor soon after we arrived home. It was one of those contests consisting of strength and skill that I always lose.

Worry not, his bite is worse than his bark, and I am able to type one-handed.
The pup makes the ugliest faces, growls, and looks as though he'll eat me alive during our wrestling matches. Fortunately, they're all for show and in the end, he always covers me with huge, sloppy, bulldog slurps to assure me that he's still my loving puppy dog.

The Packers play today at noon. Other than that, I have no real plans. Sargie's off so no doubt, we'll make a run into town at some point.

Until things begin to happen, I think I'll pour myself another cup of coffee and think deep thoughts. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
