We take long rides to enjoy the fall colors, but in reality, the most beautiful trees are those that border our drive.

October 1st? Already? Weighing close to 500 pounds, I guess it's time to move Curt the Pumpkin out by the road for Show and Tell.
Just back from up north, Alaska Curt stopped by to see his namesake. We had a wonderful conversation catching up on the latest news from Alaska and the UP. Curt will be the recipient of the pumpkin and two other large ones in a few weeks. All will be used as bait for deer season.
Curt says pictures don't do the pumpkin justice. I agree. We'll see when we prop it upright.
Talking about deer, Yooper Brother Mark sent this picture of Sheri and her newest BFF, the four legged Bambi that mows down all her flowers and shrubbery in their yard. I hear this one was close to eating a cabbage leaf out of her hand.
Yesterday morning's walk was spectacular. The weather has been perfect, the scenery even more so.
Sargie and I worked for several hours installing the Milligan Mountain barn siding in the garden house.
It's a slow go as no two pieces are the same. As of now, it looks as though we may not have enough for all but the back wall, so we're entertaining other creative ideas where we might implement another siding on the top and use a chair rail to separate the two.
Tired from our labors in the garden house, we ceased work mid afternoon to enjoy a nice, long, ride west of town.
In family news, tonight is Coleman's first varsity homecoming game as a freshman. He'll be playing guard on offense, linebacker on defense.
When she's not cleaning partridge these days, Ivy's stylin' with her daddy.
Luke sent this picture of a moose shot in northern Maine. Just shy of 1,000 lbs., the bull was dropped by a hunter guided by Luke's friend, Kevin.
Okay, time to move on. Yooper Brother Mark is on his way out for our Friday morning walk. The rest of today will be much like yesterday. We hope to finish the garden house and of course, we'll be touring the countryside like two tourists, gawking at the beautiful leaves.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
