August 13, 2021 - Friday morning
45 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Unless you're into firewood, there's not much to talk about.

Thursday began with cloudy, cool, and wet conditions. In fact, I was rained on before arriving home from my walk.

Giving up any hope of working in the woods, Sargie and I enjoyed a big breakfast and "played lazy," watching tv, gabbing, and doing... well, doing nothing really.

The sun began poking through the clouds while on our morning drive. By the time we got back to Pentoga Road, the wind was drying the morning's rain.

The rest of the day was spent in the woods hauling firewood. Since the latest load was cut towards the top of a large tree, there wasn't much splitting to do, merely stacking under cover.

Last night was typical, a quiet one.

We'll be attending a funeral later this morning in Iron Mountain. Otherwise, it'll be back to the north woods, this time bucking up the last two large trees that were cut early last spring. After that, I'll move my operations to the south side of the property.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Sargie's putting a pat of butter on each of the ribeye pork steaks that were grilled for last night's supper. After all, everyone knows that food tastes better with bacon and butter!
