July 16, 2021 - Friday morning
74 degrees/partly cloudy/breezy
Albany, New York

We arrived in Albany yesterday afternoon after a wonderful drive around Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.

The scenery is becoming increasingly more interesting. First it was the vineyards along Lake Erie and now, we're getting into the mountains of the Northeast.

The rolling hills, dotted with silos, red barns, and white farm houses, remind both Sargie and me of southwest Wisconsin. It's really pretty.

A word about our car, a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. I checked our gas mileage several times yesterday and the vehicle is averaging 39.8 miles to the gallon. Not bad for a mid size car, eh? Sargie and I both love the Hyundai, but wish someone would come up with a people ejector to help us old folks get out of the low slung vehicle.

We'll depart on the final leg of our journey for Matt's, who lives in Stratham, New Hampshire, around 9 this morning. According to the computer, the trip should take just under four hours and we should arrive early in the afternoon. Rather than fight the Boston area traffic, we're heading north to Concord, New Hampshire, and will come in through the mountains of Vermont. I'm looking forward to showing Sargie some country she's never seen before.

Time to wrap this up and get on the road.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Albany, New York...
