Look who came to see Auntie Sargie and Uncle Tom
Aria!
April 9, 2021 - Friday morning
42 degrees/rainy/windy
Pentoga Road

Aria and all had just left yesterday afternoon before Grandma Sargie was making arrangements for Cheeks to be with us today. Macrea's working and Mel is preparing for a wedding shower and Cheek's baptism, all happening next weekend.

Seems in my senior years, I'm being surrounded by beautiful girls, all a foot to two feet tall. What are the poor pawpaws and uncles doing?

Nancy, Jeanne, Boyd, and Aria all arrived midmorning on Thursday. The ladies spent much of the day redecorating our front dining room and other areas of the house.

Sargie's been eager for some fresh ideas since we painted the room and added new area rugs.

It makes me proud that one of the main features is the table Mississippi Brother Garry made while he and Miss Jody were visiting years ago. It sits directly under the large mirror.

Items were removed, others added. When asked, Sargie said she put some in the storage shed. Where they fit is beyond me, but as the saying goes, "Out of sight, out of mind."

Les, the window man, arrived late in the morning and measured for two new replacement windows in the dining room. With a delivery time of ten weeks, it will be mid to late summer before they are installed.

The girls sat at the dining room table at afternoon's end thoroughly absorbed in something online. It always makes me nervous when I see two or more Milligan sisters huddled together. At times, all three had their heads in front of the computer screen.

Plotting to take over the world? A new Milligan empire?

I learned long ago that they're not only beautiful, they're smart.

You might want to run and save yourself while there's still time. Remember, you were warned here first.

We saw everyone off Thursday afternoon and settled in for the evening. It had been a good day and both Sargie and I love the new look the ladies gave our dining room.

I was half asleep in my recliner last night when I glanced across the room and saw my bride with not one, but TWO computers open and actively working.

Nuclear codes? A run for the Presidency? Maybe a chain of Milligan sister home decorating shops the world over.

As I said, it's not too late to save yourself.

Me? I'm in it for the long haul. Someone has to stick around and be Cheeks' and Hambone's pawpaw.

Cheeks will be with us today, but other than giving her a bubble belly or two, she'll fall under Grandma Sargie's care. I'm heading out for my walk fairly quickly then plan to spend the day in the shop. There are a couple of timely projects that HAVE to be finished this coming week. Since my next eye shot is scheduled for Monday with somewhat impaired sight for a day or two after, I've got to make some sawdust and soon.

Costco sure grows some good watermelons. Our first one of the season tastes like summer.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
