Pentoga Road

I'm up early this morning trying to get the blog written before meeting Tim and going for a post dawn walk. It's not as if I didn't walk enough yesterday.

I met Jambo Friday morning and we enjoyed hiking to Pentoga Village and back.

Strange thing, I was walking past the front planter, the one filled with miniature blooming sunflowers, when I noticed a splash of red where it shouldn't have been. There are geraniums in the front, but I planted nothing but sunflowers towards the rear.

What could it be?

It was a zinnia, a single, beautiful, bright red, zinnia. How/when/where that seed came from is way beyond me. None were planted anywhere on the property.

That's okay, it's beautiful and we'll enjoy this mysterious Pentoga Road gift from God right up to frost when I'll harvest seeds in hopes of more red zinnias next year.

The rest of the morning was spent cleaning the shop. Mom would be proud of me. I'm doing it "right," as she used to say. No dust is being left behind and anything not readily used or needed is being discarded.

A fistful of scroll saw blades, all very used and dull, were pitched. Why did I keep them? A guy never knows.

We left for Pat and Debbie's on the front side of Milligan Mountain in Foster City early in the afternoon. Both were sponsoring a family/friend charity 5K walk/run that led us through well groomed trails in the woods, up the hill and down and round and round, and finally brought us back to their beautiful home.

I'm disappointed in the quality of the pictures. I'm not sure why they came out so poorly, but they are what they are. I experimented with the GoPro that Sargie gave me at Christmas and lacking operating knowledge, messed up those videos. As Sargie said, maybe it would help if I'd actually read the instructions.

Anyway, here's a few pictures from yesterday's gathering, many taken after the walk while we stuffed ourselves with brats and other goodies.

Of course, there was no small amount of laughing and horsing around. Bidding sister-in-law, Debbie, the cosponsor of the event, goodbye and hugging her, she somehow ended up doing a huge dip, much in a Dancing With the Stars fashion.

Watching a few feet away, Debbie's mom, Bev, back from Arizona for the summer, remarked she could do as well or better.

How I could end up dipping two beautiful women in such a short period of time is beyond me, but hey, it's just the way I roll.

The day ended with hugs, kisses, dips, and I love you's, as the cavalcade of cars poured from Pat and Debbie's drive. The 5K fundraiser and social time after was absolutely perfect.

I'm leaving here in a few minutes for my morning walk.

On today's agenda is cleaning the shop. We're invited to have supper with Tim and Rose this evening when Rose is cooking pizzas over an open fire. I'm not sure how that's done, but they'll no doubt be delicious.

Time to strap on the hikers and get to walking.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Sisters in law, Trish and Nancy, were caught playing Peek a Boo during the group photo session.
