Rain rain go away...
The overflow from the garden pond. The hose just happened to be in the picture.
July 19, 2020 - Sunday morning
67 degrees/partly cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road

Another 1.6 inches of rain fell during the night. That brings the two week total to 10.1 inches. Anyone need water? We have plenty to spare.

Thankfully, there's a constructed overflow in the garden pond that allows any excess water to escape. I've been helping it along by clearing a canal out of the gravel. Sargie would like me to build a small decorative, but useable, bridge and I'm beginning to think it might not be such a bad idea.

Thankfully, when I dug the pond, I built a berm around the entire area to keep any excess runoff from flowing through the garden or into the pond.

Larry the Heavy Equipment Guy was to bring a dump truck load of top soil to fill in where the rocks were removed last month, but it's not stopped raining. I texted him a couple of weeks ago and told him we're in no big hurry. I'd rather it be landscaped and grass seed planted during better conditions than have it all wash away during a downpour.

The garden and flowers are loving the rain. For having such a lousy spring and early summer, the excess precipitation is bringing out the best and optimal colors in everything.

The hollyhocks and lilies show up well against the dark siding. The hollyhocks are from three plants Jambo gave me a few years ago. They self seeded and the rest is history.
Sargie spent much of the day painting and touching up. She has our home looking beautiful by emphasizing the red roof, lawn furniture, and the occasional lawn ornament.

Conditions were hot and humid so I spent much of the day in the shop trying to finish several ongoing projects that have been lying around for weeks.

I promised the younger grandbabies that I'd be making and sending puzzles. The thought was good, but not practical during my busiest time of the year. The puzzles were started, but not finished.

Finally completed, all will be carefully packed with love into boxes today and sent in Monday's mail.

I'm also finishing the large bowl that's been mounted on the lathe for the past month. This one will go to Brother Elmer in the arctic as an 80th birthday present.

Tim and Rose dropped in for a visit last evening.

Hot and sweaty, it didn't take Tim or me, either one, long to hop in the cooling waters of the pond.

I think I'm safe in saying that if we so desired, the next Olympic gold metal awarded in synchronized swimming could be ours. Since Tim is quite a bit younger and still employed and I'm much too busy on a daily basis, we'll let someone else garner the gold.

Here we are practicing the careful head nod acknowledging each other.
Other than add a few more coats of finish for the bowl and packing the puzzles to be mailed, I have absolutely nothing on today's agenda.

Maybe I'll kidnap Sargie Pants and we'll run far far away to a place where the sun always shines, a magical land where lemonade flows from springs and the bluebirds sing, where peppermint grows on trees and we're able to enjoy goodies in a place called the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

I pictured such a place many many years ago while singing the song. The fantasy has never left.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

If we could get the girls to dress in Dallas Cowgirl type cheerleader outfits, I'm sure Tim and I would excel even more while practicing our synchronized swimming.
