I know two girls who went out Thursday night and had a wild time
March 13, 2020 - Friday morning
66 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Oh yeah, while poor poor Mississippi Brother Garry and I were home last night working our little bruised fingers to the bone, Miss Jody and Miss Sargie were whooping and hollering at huge local church, enjoying Chonda Pierce in concert.

There are a number of youtube videos of Chonda and I recommend all of them. The gal can only be described as just plain, good old-fashioned, funny. Though her humor is aimed at women, men find it just as entertaining.

Thursday was another wonderful day here on Meador Road. Garry and I got the car from the mechanic's. Seems a faulty sensor was the problem and it now runs like a top. Thankfully, we had the mechanical problems while we were here and not out on the road between Mississippi and home.

Sargie and I went to town for a bit of shopping and found utter chaos. God help anyone who wants to purchase toilet paper. All the shelves where paper goods normally are kept were completely empty.

Thankfully, Garry found a few old Sears catalogues in the attic of the barn, so their toiletry needs should be met for the near future.

As a joke, Garry advertised a Sears catalogue on Facebook for just that purpose and he's had multiple humorous responses. I'm glad people can find humor during this time of utter nonsense.

I try to stay conservatively apolitical, but this entire virus thing has me puzzled. The majority of the doctors interviewed on television tell us that in most cases, for a normal person, symptoms are mild and should be over in two weeks or less, yet the media just keeps hyping this whole pandemic thing to the hilt. Schools have closed in Michigan for three weeks along with most other venues, both locally (in Michigan) and nationally.

Am I missing something here?

Doing the world a favor and self quarantining in the shop, Garry and I worked on the colored pencil vase yesterday. It's a labor of love.

How many old men does it take to play with colored pencils?
Thank goodness we had Miss Jody to supervise!
Questioning our abilities to mount a bunch of colored pencils in liquid resin, we drove to James's house seeking further help and advice.

Now there's three old men playing with colored pencils
Back home, the real work finally began.

All the pencils were formed around a walnut dowel that Garry turned, four deep, in a four inch piece of PVC pipe with a flat end cap.

Resin was poured and left to sit for twenty four hours.

Unable to handle the pressure of supervising, Miss Jody called upon Miss Sargie for help. You can see that Sargie's under a lot of stress.

Ouch! That's my finger you're clamping, Miss Jody!
In the end, the cast was capped and clamped and hopefully, the resin hardened overnight. The next step will be to turn the entire menagerie into a shiny, beautiful, vase.

Under all that mess lies a potential vase of unparalleled beauty
Miss Jody was busy in the kitchen yesterday. The girl made some to-die-for sausage biscuits.

I'd be willing to bet that you can't eat just one. I enjoyed several while they were still fresh from the oven.

Garry and I spent last evening setting up a laser printer that he'll be able to use for printing patterns in the shop. He can connect to it by USB cable and/or wireless.

I saw something earlier this morning that tickled my funny bone. I've taken more interest in wrestling than usual since Grandson, Coleman, has been so successful. Hopefully, he'll take a few lessons from these two muscle men.

Sargie and I will fly out of the local airport for Texas late this afternoon. Our final destination will be Harlingen, Texas, due in around midnight. Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri left at 6:30 this morning in a snowstorm, but were able to take off and are now in Minneapolis awaiting their connection onto Harlingen. Though I offered to get a cab or Uber, as the kids call it. (I wouldn't know, we've never "Uber'd.) he said they'd be there to pick us up in the wee hours of the morning.

Time to get around and get this near perfect day started.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Today's random Alaska picture:
Ice fishing in the arctic. A rifle was always close at hand should a pesky bear, polar or early spring grizzly, or a crazy bull moose, happen along.
