February 10, 2020 - Monday evening
23 degrees/clear skies/breezy
Pentoga Road

I'm tickled with our new (used) camera, a Nikon SLR D5100, that I purchased last week.

Expensive? Not at all.

I've had a Nikon D50 for years and have been very happy with it. At the time of purchase, it was considered high end. When it began to do a few funky things last year, I made the conscious decision to send it in for repair.

Only one problem.

The minimum bench fee for repair is $300.

Looking online, I found that a much newer, more powerful, refurbished, high end D5100 cost less than half of the repair price. I bought it.

I think Sargie's picture came out well. Of course, I had the most beautiful subject to photograph.

My 7.4 mile walk was beautiful this morning. The sun was bright and the temperatures were quickly rising towards the freezing mark.

After a late morning drive, Sargie and I shoveled through a hard snow berm so we can begin to retrieve wood from the back pile that has been kept dry under a large tarp.

The last of the fire wood from the front sheds will be used in the next two weeks. After it's gone, we'll begin getting our daily supply from the back pile.

I used the snowblower to make a path through the deep snow to the wood pile. Once there, Sargie and I shoveled the three feet of snow lying on top into the blower.

We also worked on the drive in front of the barn. The late afternoon sun is beginning to loosen the ice and we are anxious to get down to the black pavement to encourage melting during the coming sunny days.

Josh sent a short video clip of Ellie playing in a middle school basketball game. Seems my granddaughter is not only a talented artist and musician, but she's no slob on the basketball court. In the following clip, Ellie gets the ball and drives down the court to make a layup.

So that's the news from this end. Sargie and I are enjoying her retirement and beginning to talk more and more of our upcoming trip beginning the first week of March.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
