Wes, Em, Santa, Ben
By the look on his face, I'm fairly certain Santa was having a good time
December 22, 2019 - Sunday morning
30 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It seems entirely too quiet this morning after yesterday's family gathering with Shea and Macrea's families. More about that in a minute.

I took off for Pentoga Village first thing Saturday morning. The temperature was in the low thirties, there was little wind, and the rising sun made everything look absolutely beautiful.

I like walking the best while the day is still young. The light, yesterday, was perfect for snapping outdoor photos. Below is the snowmobile trail built on the old railroad grade heading into Iron River.

There was a train depot that once stood in this very spot.

Back home, I busied myself and using the shovel and snow rake, helped the snow as it began to slide off the roof of the barn and garage. It won't take much for it all to let go and slide to the ground.

I fell 12 feet to the ground off this roof early last spring and learned my lesson. Unless Sargie's there to catch me, any snow removal will be done from ground level using the snow rake.
Sargie soon joined me and shoveled for a bit in the drive while waiting for the boys and their families to arrive. As Sargie said, it was just too nice of a day to spend inside.

Everyone arrived early in the afternoon and the party began. Grady and Kylie enjoyed multiple games of cards while the big people were busy doing whatever it is big people do.

Sadie and I sat on the floor and enjoyed watching all the action around us. At 13 weeks of age, the labradoodle is about the most mellow and best behaved pup I've ever been around. If Sargie and I weren't planning on doing some extensive travel in the years to come, I would consider investing in a pup just like Sadie.

Grady kept us entertained by performing some of the songs he sang for last week's winter concert. The boy takes after his pawpaw. He's shy.

It was time to eat. Macrea and Sargie manned the kitchen, baking four pizzas. If anyone went home hungry last night, it was their own fault.

Mel had spent the entire previous night baking Christmas cookies. Everyone grazed on those before and after supper.

It was time to open presents and it seems everyone made out pretty darn good.

We bade all goodbye last evening, promising to see everyone Tuesday evening high atop Milligan Mountain where Nancy and Ron will be hosting the annual Milligan Christmas Eve activities.

I'm going for my walk then return to shop. There are still two presents to finish in the next couple of days. Both are started, neither are finished.

Other than that, I'd like to get the living room roof shoveled today and there's little doubt that Sargie and I will go for an afternoon drive. It's to be sunny with high temperatures in the low 40's.

I'm not the only person who thinks deep thoughts on Pentoga Road.
After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
