Pentoga Road
December 23, 2019 - Monday morning
26 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Before I begin this morning, I ask for your prayers for Jambo's mother-in-law, Lettie. Grandma, as she is affectionately known, had a massive stroke last week and is currently in the Iron River hospital. Prayers for daughter, Germaine, Lettie, Mike, and the rest of the family, would be greatly appreciated.

Grandma's one of the good ones. The best.

I did, indeed, enjoy Sunday morning's stroll. The temperature was rapidly rising and ended up topping out close to 50 degrees by mid afternoon. With plenty of sunshine and no wind, what was there not to enjoy?

One of the old vacant houses and shed in Pentoga Village

I really wanted to work in the shop all day Sunday, but Mother Nature had other plans. I decided to climb onto the roof of the living room and begin clearing snow and ice.

As long as I was risking my neck by standing on a slick metal roof, why not enjoy the view?

Sargie came outside later and began chipping away at the packed snow on the drive. With full sunshine, any bare blacktop quickly warms enough to melt the surrounding snow.

We took a short break and drove to town for Sargie's Coke. Back home, we tackled the garage and front porch roof.

The roofs were clean by late afternoon. Now we don't have to worry when the big snowstorms hit later this winter. We're back to where we were last fall.

Only one problem... that snow from the garage roof had to land somewhere. It did, right in front of the door.

Thankfully, I've done this before. I'd pulled the car out and backed the four wheeler in so I could push the snow to the sides of the drive.

I'm going to wrap this up and go for my walk. Today is a no brainer, I HAVE to spend most of it in the shop finishing the last of the presents.

It's time to get a fire going in the outside wood furnace so the shop will be warm by the time I get home.

Speaking of wood furnace, check out this snow.

Snow had slid from the barn and piled onto the roof of the shed surrounding the furnace. Thankfully, when I added the shed, I made it out of 2x10's and reinforced the entire thing.

We could feel feel the snow hitting the ground from the barn's roof while we sat in the house.
OK, there's enough daylight that it's time to get this day started.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
