It's that time of year Sargie's putting up the Christmas trees |

If this past week has been any indication of this upcoming winter's weather, it'll be next August before we see bare ground again. I haven't ventured outside yet, but Yooper Brother Mark texted a bit ago saying he's shoveling an additional 10 inches of white stuff.
Looking out the window, I'm guessing we have at least that, maybe more.
Saturday was spent doing outside activities. Knowing another snowstorm was on its way, I wanted to finish clearing the deck.
The famous Yooper Scooper, used to move large amounts of heavy snow |
I spent time clearing the ice from the wires of the electric deer fence and doing some minor repairs.
Note how my once beautiful Wolf River apple tree has been reduced to a brush pile. |
It didn't take long before the deer discovered the fence wasn't working. Their tracks showed they walked between the wires and nibbled on the apple trees.
Luke sent a few pictures of activities around their home in southern Maine. My oldest son, Josh, was visiting and helping Coleman repair his bicycle.
Is that gray I see in that beard? |
I'm not sure either of us are in our usual Christmas mood. Mom had spent the holidays with us for the past several years and we'd built our Christmastime traditions around her. Still, the holiday music was playing Saturday afternoon while we marched onward.
Other than adding a second tree to our indoor holiday decor, we also included a new moving laser light that displays a beautiful show against the large barn door.
I'm bragging here, but in constant slow motion, it's pretty impressive.
We filled several pans with water last night in anticipation of once again losing power during this current storm. So far, so good.
Sargie and I ended the day by playing a game of Rummy. It was nice to sit on the floor in front of the stove and laugh through five hundred points of a silly card game.
Today will be spent clearing the drive so we can get out of here tomorrow. I just received a notice saying that another seven inches of snow could fall before this storm is finished. Assuming the snow plow goes through sometime tonight, we should be okay.
Sargie will, no doubt, be packing today and getting the house ready to close up as we prepare to leave early Monday morning for Galesburg, Illinois.
After all, a man's work and that of his bride, is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
