The fattest bear I've ever seen
November 10, 2019 - Sunday morning
22 degrees/light snow/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Thanks to Yooper Brother Mark for contributing the above fat bear picture. A friend of his had sent it along. I've seen plenty of bears, both black, brown, Kodiak, and grizzly. Some were larger, but none fatter than this one. He should sleep well this winter.

Not a lot to report on this morning. Our trip to Green Bay was somewhat disappointing. The sale at Sam's Club turned out to be a bust. We had to park on the other side of Wisconsin before walking that far to get into the store and when we did, shopping was almost impossible. Pushing a cart was a stop and wait, then start again, proposition.

I hate crowds and I'm beginning to question if I even like people.

Crowded shopping conditions seem to bring out the best and worst in people. I saw some great manners on display yesterday and also witnessed a few real lame brained shoppers, including the one that rammed her cart into my ankles, then stood and glared at me until I moved.

My personality went from bad to downright ugly.

I stepped back, letting the Wicked Witch of Sam's Club ride her shopping cart on through, then fantasized about how nice it was when I lived a solitary life in the arctic, of the days when I'd go for weeks in the fall and spring without seeing another human being.

At that moment, if Sargie would have agreed to go with, I'd have sold everything, lock, stock, and barrel, and headed north of the arctic circle.

Back to reality, Sargie picked up a few things, I got a pair of boots that were on sale, and we waded through the people, checked out, and left.

People waiting in line to order tires that were on sale. The line stretched halfway across the front of the store.
We had to cut through the tire line to use the restrooms and as I walked through, asked everyone if they were waiting to see Santa. I heard some laughs, but also received a few "get lost" stares.

A quick stop was made at Aldi Foods where we found grapes for .80 a pound and bananas for .20 a pound. I don't think I've seen bananas that cheap in fifty years, possibly more.

We arrived home mid to late Saturday afternoon. I rekindled the fire in the wood stove and we had a quiet evening.

I think today will be a lazy one. I'm going to begin painting the chipmunk this morning and watch the Packers game late this afternoon. Otherwise, I may have to close my eyes somewhere along the way. You know, mental preparation for being the kindergarten cop on Monday.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
