Who's that sassy lookin' gal?
It's Isabella all dressed up for her Daddy Date Night Dance with a 50's theme!
March 23, 2019 - Saturday morning
12 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Dang, these little ones are growing up fast, aren't they? I remember the first time Isabella came to visit. She was barely walking and much more comfortable crawling on all fours than dancing the hootchie coo at a daddy date night dance.

Speaking of growing up, look who came to visit this weekend?

Yup, Hambone's back in the house. Macrea called yesterday and asked if we'd like a visitor this weekend. Without hesitation, I told him to send the boy home with Grandma Sargie after work.

Right now, it's quiet and peaceful. Grandma Sargie and The Bone are still sound asleep. That will all change shortly.

Yesterday morning was spent making culinary delights. I mixed the ingredients for the seafood casserole and put the pan in the refrigerator so all that had to be done last night was to put the concoction in the oven.

After, I made a batch of my favorite kind of cookies, oatmeal/raisin.

There's only one problem with homemade cookies. I have the tendency to grab one off the plate each time I walk by. Still, oatmeal is a healthy food, so are raisins. Consequently, I've come to the conclusion that oatmeal/raisin cookies are good for me. The more I eat, the healthier I become, especially when they are washed down with a big glass of cold milk.

Dinner and dessert taken care of, I made my way outside and started a fire in the wood furnace.

With the increasingly warmer temperatures, it didn't take much to warm the shop.

The rest of the day was spent painting and assembling the bobcat.

One of the biggest problems I run into is the lack of shades and pigments needed for detailed work.

I took art classes in my younger days, but don't remember what color plus what color equals another color. With me, it's by trial and error.

I mix and match, add more paint, mix more, and usually, in the end, I find something close to what I'm looking for.

I was tempted to throw in the paintbrush several times during the day as I grew weary of the tedious tasks of not only painting, but fitting and gluing each of the seventy pieces into place.

Still, in the end, I managed to persevere and by late afternoon, the bobcat was finished.

Onto the next project, whatever that will be.

Germaine and Jambo are down for a couple of days and I was delighted when Jambo said he'd walk to Pentoga Village with me. We had a great stroll and caught up on each other's lives.

Since it was Friday of Lent and I had enough fish casserole to feed the starving third world countries, I invited them for supper. Another pleasant surprise to end the week.

Sargie pulled in with Hambone, Mike and Germaine came over, and we had a wonderful evening sitting around the table eating, talking, and laughing.

It was almost bedtime when Grady cuddled up with Pawpaw on the couch. I took out the computer and found a site with elementary math games.

Hambone had to add and subtract, then enter the correct answer before a spaceship blew our base apart. It's a good thing Bone's a smart little guy. In the end, we defeated the aliens and lived to add and subtract another day.

The funniest thing of the night happened when I found a site with .wav files, those that produce sound affects like dogs barking, sirens, rain, wind, etc.

Earlier, Grady had a bit of gas and of course, I teased him.

I soon found a .wav file that produced the same sound. Occasionally, I'd hit the button that would produce a big ol' rumble or squeak and either Grandma Sargie or I would say, "GRADY! WHAT DID YOU DO?"

No whoopee cushion has made a more realistic noise.

Our poor little guy got to laughing hysterically. Half embarrassed, half amused, he didn't know what to do. As soon as he'd calm down, I'd hit the button again and away we'd go.

What fun.

Last night, we made memories that will be stored in the Pawpaw bank until I take my last breath.

Sargie closes tonight, but doesn't go into work until 1 this afternoon. I'm not sure what Hambone and I will do, but whatever it is, it will be outside. With a high of 50 degrees forecast and little wind, it'll be too nice of a day to be inside.

Oops, speaking of The Bone, I hear footsteps overhead. That can only mean one thing. It's time to say....

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Ewww, Grady, what did you do?
