Not a very good picture.
A deer running down the road ahead of me early Tuesday morning

Pentoga Road

Whew, I'm tired tonight. It was quite a day, not necessarily bad, but definitely action packed.

My day began by driving at a snail's pace as a poor deer ran along the shoulder of the road directly in front of me, frightened and helpless. The banks were so high that she couldn't go anywhere but straight ahead. If I sped up, so did  the deer. She finally came to a place where she could veer away.

My morning with the fifth grade Bob Kitties flew by. They were enthusiastic during their science lessons and I enjoyed actually teaching rather than simply babysitting.

The afternoon brought the sixth grade. Most are good kids, but a few are a bit chatty. One poor boy felt he had to test me to the limit and made the mistake of insisting he have the last word in a somewhat disrespectful manner.

To make a long story short, we had a man to boy chat in the principal's office. I'm fairly certain he saw a different side of his substitute teacher than he knew existed and I'd bet money he'll act much differently the next time we spend time together in class.

I carried in wood when I arrived home, got the fire going in the wood stove, and played with Chief for some time. The pup doesn't seem to mind being confined all day in his extra large kennel. His bladder must be the size of a five gallon bucket.

Sargie was home early and we've had a quiet evening. She opens the Vision Center on Wednesday and I'm the high school/elementary PE teacher. Thankfully, we're both off Thursday. We'll be ready for an "us day" of R&R.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
