Sundown over Neighbor Mike's on Friday night |
21 degrees/cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road
Thankfully, we didn't receive as much snow as had been predicted. The two inches that fell was enough to cause me to mount the snow blade onto the four wheeler and plow the drive.
I made a quick trip to town to purchase a new battery for the red four-wheeler. It's been weak all summer and I knew the old one would have to be replaced before cold weather arrived.
Back home, I decided to bite the bullet and exchange my summer clothes in the bedroom closet with two totes of winter clothes that were stored last spring.
It wasn't my favorite chore, but most the short sleeved shirts are packed away in favor of those with long sleeves. I also have access to several pair of flannel lined jeans and long johns that will help keep my skinny legs warm.
The rest of the day was spent in the shop working on the hickory bowl.
It took quite a while to turn as the wood is so hard. Seemed as though I had to sharpen one chisel or the other every few minutes.
Still trying to develop a uniquely "me" trademark, I kept with the idea of including a band. In this case, it was burned by holding a piece of hardwood against the bowl as it turned at the highest rpm causing it char by friction.
Grandma Sargie brought home a surprise this evening. Hambone! He'll be with us until Sunday morning. Macrea will be over tomorrow.
Yooper Brother Mark called earlier this afternoon with an invitation to attend the AmVet's breakfast Saturday morning. I'm to be at Mark's house by 7:30 and we'll go from there.
It's time to think about heading upstairs. I know Grady is tired as well as Grandma Sargie. Certainly Pawpaw won't have any problems falling asleep tonight.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
