Hambone was Wood Boy and helped Pawpaw Saturday afternoon. |

It's been a fast and furious Saturday. Honestly, if I wasn't wanting to sleep in in the morning, I'd wait to write until then, but, hey, a guy can hope.
By the way, sleeping in for me means that I slumber until 7 AM. I doubt I'll stay in bed that long, but it's worth a try.
I picked Yooper Brother Mark up bright and early this morning and we made our way to the Beechwood Hall west of Iron River for the AmVet's breakfast.
The guys really put on a feed, complete with blueberry pancakes, sausage, eggs, and coffee.
Mark's watching the cooks prepare the pancakes |
We left the hall an hour after we entered with full bellies. After dropping Mark off at his home, I made my way to the grocery store for a few goodies.
I was surprised to find the checkout lane without a cashier, but discovered the following sitting on the counter.
I hunted her down in aisle two and was on my way home a few minutes later.
Hambone and I spent some time outdoors this afternoon. He is getting big enough that he's becoming a real help carrying in wood.
I hope Grady maintains his gung ho attitude as he grows bigger and stronger. I have a feeling Pawpaw could really use his help carrying in wood in the years to come.
All work and no play makes Grady and Pawpaw unhappy. We started the old Tundra and took a ride around the property and over at Neighbor Mike's.
Once we were in Mike's field, far away from any trees or other obstacles, I let Hambone drive. All I can say is that it'll be a year or two before the boy will get to navigate the snowmobile by himself.
Macrea and his company sponsored a gathering for work at the local golf club this evening. Sargie and I tagged along beforehand to help prepare the room.
The last we saw of Macrea, he and an assistant were putting the finishing touches on the room, tables, games, and amenities.
Macrea will be home sometime later this evening, no doubt after we've all gone to bed.
Sargie works from noon to five on Sunday. I imagine the boys will head home late in the morning or early afternoon as Macrea and Mel will be driving to Green Bay for tomorrow night's Packers game.
I'm going to play tomorrow by ear. With the forecast calling for continued cold temperatures, I imagine I'll spend the day in the shop.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
After a long day, Hambone crawled up to cuddle with Grandma Sargie and the rest is history. |
