September 4, 2018 - Tuesday
64 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

For whatever reason, I didn't take the camera out of my pocket once yesterday. Call it camera fatigue? Possibly forgetfulness. Who knows?

Oh well, there were enough pictures on Monday's blog to last for both days.

Yesterday was a different kind of day, albeit a very good one. Macrea, Mel, and Hambone, stayed overnight Sunday. We started a game of Monopoly mid evening and after playing until bedtime, decided to let everything sit on the dining room table and finish playing Monday.

The game resumed late yesterday morning and didn't conclude until well into Monday afternoon.

We laughed, we cajoled, dickered, negotiated, mortgaged properties, gave dirty looks, and paid fines and rents and after almost five hours of play, I emerged as Pentoga Road's newest slum lord.

Mel exited first, then Macrea. It came down to Sargie and me and I later told her it hurt me deeply when I had to evict her onto the streets and foreclose on her properties.

Poor Sargie. Poor poor Sargie.

My bride says I play "mean." It's a good thing she didn't know Dad. He was a self described cut-throat Monopoly participant and showed no mercy to those who tried to impede his victorious march around the board.

Thankfully, Sargie still let me sleep with her last night, even if she is homeless in the world of Monopoly. I think she's after my big board game bucks.

The kids left late Monday afternoon and Sargie and I went to town to do a bit of grocery shopping. Last night was a quiet one.

I'm not certain what today will bring. Sargie doesn't have to work. With almost an inch of rain falling overnight, I'll not be playing in the garden, yard, or woods. A flash flood warning was just issued for tonight and tomorrow with two to four inches of rain, possibly more, forecast for this area. At least the water table will be in good shape going into the winter months.

It's time for a cup of coffee and to think deep thoughts of how I'm going to spend my millions of play money. Being a slum lord isn't always fun and games you know.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
