Scotty's getting ready to depart for points south
September 7, 2018 - Friday
41 degrees/high overcast/calm winds
Pentoga Road

He rode in and just like that, he rode back out. We hated to see Scott leave Thursday morning, but we're grateful that he took the time to stop by and visit.

We received a text late yesterday afternoon saying he'd safely made it to the suburbs of Chicago. As Dad always said, "Leave 'em wanting more." That's how we feel about Scott and hope he'll come back soon.

Sargie and I made our way to Rhinelander, Wisconsin, early in the afternoon. She had an errand or two to attend to and I gimped along for the ride.

We hadn't been there too long when I received a text from Jambo. Seems Neighbor Mike was cleaning some brush when he turned and felt something pop in his knee. Able to ride his four-wheeler back to the house, Mike and Germaine drove to Iron Mountain seeking medical attention.

Appears ol' Jambo did something to his meniscus and will be laid up for a while. Originally, we'd thought about going fishing today, but since neither of us are at 100%, we figured that might not be the wisest move in the world.

I accused my good friend of being jealous that I had a walking cast and he didn't, so naturally, he had to try to top me for sympathy votes.

Josh sent a few pictures of their mountain bike riding adventures. Seems the boys upped the anti by finding a challenging ski hill.

I'm impressed with the helmets they wear, but then if I were biking down a steep mountain, I'd be wearing a heavy duty one too.

Riding the chair lift. In the middle is grandson, Wyatt, and on the right is Josh. Not certain who's on the left.
One thing's for certain, I'm proud that all my grandchildren are active, but even more that my sons are so involved with them.

The house was getting chilly last night and Sargie hinted that a fire might feel good. As she said, "Just enough to take the chill out of the air."

She was correct. The fire felt down right pleasant.

Sargie has an appointment first thing this morning then closes tonight. I won't see her until almost bedtime. It's going to be a long day for both of us.

Me? Well, there's not a lot I can do other than play in the shop, do some quality reading, and take a nap or two.

This recovery business can be quite stressful.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
