Friday's project was working up yet another tree. |

I just finished looking at the above picture and thought, doesn't everyone wait until the hottest part of the day to work up a tree for next winter's firewood? Well, that's what I did yesterday.
Regardless what Mama thinks, sometimes her little guy isn't the brightest bulb in the lot.
Friday was a mellow one. I walked my five miles then settled in for some Packers preseason football. I'd recorded Thursday night's game and enjoyed watching, even if it was after the fact.
One thing, a game that normally takes three hours only lasts a bit over an hour if one fast forwards through all the commercials and time outs.
Josh sent pictures of Ellie, Wyatt, and Cody, competing in a junior triathlon on the East Coast. I'm told all three did well in their age brackets.
The kids' mother is a world class (literally) triathlon athlete and recently won her age division in Lake Placid, New York, and fifth over all. She'll be competing in the world championships in Hawaii in the near future.
Wyatt is a carbon copy of his father at that age. He's all lean muscle. |

I'm proud of Josh and Megan who encourage their munchkins to be physically as well as mentally active. They have their electronics, but balance their lives out with plenty of outside activities. In fact, my four sons, all fathers, are the same with their children. As I said, I'm proud of each.
I made a quick dash to the local animal shelter yesterday afternoon and decided to let someone else adopt the pup I've been interested in. After playing for twenty minutes, the seven month old bulldog about wore me out and was ready for more nonstop action.
I talked to one of the workers and what she said made a lot of sense.
"The right dog has a way of finding his new owner."
Maybe my pup will come around someday and adopt me.
Sargie closes the Vision Center again today. For the umpteenth year in a row, I've been asked to be half of Jerad's pit crew for tonight's demolition derby at the county fair. Yooper Brother Mark is the other half. Being invited is an obligation that neither of us take lightly. It's a real guy time of walking around castoff cars and socializing.
You know, maybe this year I'll take a hammer and a pair of pliers... you know, should he need to draw on my expert mechanical knowledge.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
