51 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road
Yes, indeed, Sargie and I did finish cleaning those nasty living room windows Thursday without killing each other.
Yes, indeed, Sargie and I did finish cleaning those nasty living room windows Thursday without killing each other.
For the most part, she worked on the inside while I climbed the ladder and swiped the exterior.
Cleaning the glass was the easy part. It's getting the various panes apart that's the real pane. I mean pain. (Sorry, it was there for free.) Whoever designed those windows must have been horribly abused as a child, beaten and sent to bed nightly without any supper.
We began early yesterday morning and it was past 1 PM before we finished. Just eight windows took over half a day.
The temperature wasn't so bad, but the humidity was horrible, making it feel like we were working in a hot, wet, washrag.
Regardless, in the end, we emerged on the other side still happily married. Sargie even commented that my dour, dark, annual, window cleaning mood, was brighter this year. I'm learning.
With both of us hot and sticky, we decided the best way to celebrate finishing the windows was to ride to town and get Cokes. A soda pop has never tasted so good and we took our time driving back home in the cool air conditioned car.
What to do... what to do? OK, so we'd talked earlier what we were going to do. It was time to head to the lake.
The Crappie Queen continued her streak last night. We'd switched from our usual teeny crank baits to using small jigs with artificial minnows. It worked.
There wasn't a breath of air blowing and with the crystal clear water, we could sit in the boat, look straight down, and watch the crappies hit our baits.
Sargie even let me catch a fish or two.
We were hot and tired, the fishing had slowed, and with thunder rumbling in the distance and the Packers scheduled to play their second preseason game, we motored to shore. Enough fish had been caught for a decent future fish fry.
There was quite the welcoming committee to greet us along Pentoga Road.
Last night was a quiet one. With thunder and lightening crashing all around us, we never did receive even one drop of rain.
Impressive clouds/no rain |
Since Sargie's on vacation, I have no idea what today will bring. I recorded last night's Packers game and plan on watching it first thing this morning. I'd like to make my way to the shop, but I say that every day and somehow, real work or fishing manage to get in the way.
Should I expect anything different?
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
