We crossed into Wisconsin from Illinois mid Sunday morning |
67 degrees/cloudy skies/very windy
Pentoga Road
We're home! After a seven hour trek from Ogelsby, Illinois with several stops in between, we pulled into our drive around five this afternoon. Over a thousand miles were traveled during the past thirty-six hours.
Traffic was fairly heavy today, but thankfully, everyone was moving right along.
Our first stop was at an outlet mall in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Sargie was in her element!
She wasn't the only one who found a bargain or two. I purchased a drill press at a tool outlet for a fourth of the normal price. I've never enjoyed an outlet mall as much as I did the one today.
Actually, I've never enjoyed any outlet mall, but then this was the first one I've ever been to that had a discount tool store.
Sargie enjoyed snapping pictures of the beautiful Wisconsin farms along the way, especially the barns.
We stopped at another outlet mall in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, but didn't stay long as there were tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings issued for our entire route home.
We dodged several bullets in the weather department. A tornado touched down an hour before we drove through Crivitz, Wisconsin, and strong storms hit Green Bay shortly after we'd left.
Thankfully, other than a few rain showers, we arrived home unscathed.
I spent a bit of time in the garden this evening. With an additional half inch of rain and continued warm weather, it continues to do well.
We've had a relaxing evening. The temperature has dropped twenty degrees and sleeping should be prime tonight.
Speaking of sleeping, it's time for Tom and Sargie to climb those long, steep, stairs. Driving a thousand miles in thirty-six hours has a way of making a couple of people mighty tired. The temperature is cool, we're home safe and sound, and since Sargie doesn't have to work Monday, we can sleep in.
Yep, for darn sure, it's time for bed.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

I continue to hope for a good crop of ripe, juicy, cantaloupes this fall. |
It won't be long before we'll be enjoying green beans from the garden |
