My own personal guard bird wasn't overly happy when I filled his feeder with sugar water yesterday. |
48 degrees/clear skies/windy
Pentoga Road
Our guard bird and I are going to have to come to an understanding over who's the boss on Pentoga Road. Actually, it's Sargie, but when she's not around, it's me. In other words, the quarter ounce buzz bomb is going to have to learn to not peck the hand that feeds him. After I rehung the feeder yesterday, he buzzed around my head in a threatening manner until I was well away from his feeder.
He'd better shape up or he's liable to be sent to his nest without any supper.
Sunday was cold, rainy, and windy. Arriving home from Iron Mountain after retrieving the Blazer, I retreated to the shop where, other than for a quick trip to town, I remained for the entire day.
The script style of lettering is certainly a challenge. I use a large blade for the straight lines, then switch to a very fine toothed blade for many of the smaller, intricate cuts. It's a slow, painstaking, process, but enjoyable.
I took a break Sunday afternoon and went to Yooper Brother Mark's plant for a load of wood shavings.
Utilized in the aisles of the garden and as mulch in various places, the shavings begin to break down after few years, so I refresh some each season. They look nice and laid over the top of landscaping cloth, the shavings work well.
While in town, I stopped by to see what Mark was up to. The temperature was barely registering 60 degrees accompanied by wind and occasional rain, but that didn't stop my boy from washing his truck dressed only in shorts and a t-shirt. I felt like an absolute fifi sissy pants bundled in a flannel shirt and jeans.
The rest of the day was spent back in the shop. Sargie arrived home early and we had a quiet evening.
She closes again tonight. I'll go for my walk later this morning then plan to spread the wood shavings before returning to the shop as it's too wet to weed or mow. Those things will have to wait a day or two.
As you can see, there's not a lot of excitement to write about. With that in mind, I guess it's time to think about breakfast and get Sargie's lunch packed.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

The first Sweet William (dianthus) of the year. A self seeding annual that's considered a perennial, there'll be clumps of blooms within a week. |
