Hambone helped to haul in firewood last night. |

Pentoga Road
After all the rain, freezing rain, ice, and snow, that fell yesterday, Grady's still with us. Macrea and I talked last night and we decided the roads weren't safe. Since Macrea has to work in Iron River this morning, he'll come by for lunch and take Hambone with him back to Iron Mountain after.
Speaking of rain and snow, was it a miserable day on Thursday.
The temperature remained around 35 degrees, just cold enough to create a layer of ice and slush on everything.
Snowballs were falling from the sky at one point. It's been a long time since I've seen flakes that big. Thankfully, little of the precipitation stuck to the ground.
Cold weather calls for comfort food. Since we couldn't go outside to play, I decided to spend some time in the kitchen.
What better stick-to-your-ribs food than homemade biscuits?
Throw in a couple of fried eggs and some sausage gravy and you have the perfect brunch for a cold, wet, wintry, day.
All that work and what did Hambone opt to eat? Bran cereal! I've never seen a kid who likes healthy cereal like he does.
The rain/snow lessened. I wanted to scrape the slush from the drive before the temperatures plummeted causing ice to form. Any precipitation that froze to the drive could still be there next April.
Of course, where there's an engine and PawPaw, there's Hambone.
Grady's getting to the age where he thinks he should be able to drive the four wheeler by himself.
Yeah... that's not going to happen for a few years. He enjoys putting his hands on mine as we plow along.
Grandma Sargie wasn't slow in picking up a shovel.
It didn't take Grady long to find one in the barn that was more his size and help.
What good would wet snow be if a snowman weren't made?
It was almost dark before we went inside.
Last evening was a quiet one. Grandma Sargie and Grady played a killer game of Alphabet Bingo.
The evening slipped away and before anyone realized it, bedtime was soon upon us. No one in this house had any difficulty falling asleep.
Sargie opens the Vision Center today. If the roads aren't too bad, Chief the dog will be joining Grady and me later this morning. It'll be PawPaw Daycare, at least for a few hours and that's okay.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
