Now I know what Dad meant when he'd get upset with me and say, "Get your head on straight." |

OH NO! I just ate the last of Auntie Hollyhocks cookies. Looks as though I'll be in the kitchen later today whipping up a new batch of something or the other.
I like to bake, but when it comes to Holly's culinary skills, I'm but a mere imitation. She gave us these cookies sometime last fall and I've kept them in the freezer, sparingly doling out one here and there. They're like Valentine's Day chocolates that you want to last and only eat one every now and then.
I eat a cookie a morning to help get the pills started on their way down my throat. Okay, that's a lie and an excuse. I've grown used to having something sweet with my morning coffee. Auntie Hollyhock's cookies fill the bill perfectly.
As you can see above, Miss Snow Lady's head was attached yesterday. I spent some time filling in the gap between her head and shoulders with putty and hope to sand that today and complete the finishing touches. I love Miss Snow Lady, but it's time she be placed on the shelf until closer to Christmas.
My biggest accomplishment on Wednesday was to make a carrying tray for my paints.
I thought about using regular lumber, but hated to waste "good stuff" for something as mundane as a rectangular box with a handle. Why not utilize the old flooring that was given to me last week?
I measured, thought, cut, thought, nailed, thought some more.
Hmm, what to use as a handle. I NEVER throw away old broom sticks, shovel handles, or anything that resembles a straight line and is round.
In the end, I utilized an old broom stick that I've been tripping over for the past several years.
Slowly, the tray came together. I used the power nailer with brads which saved a lot of time. Finally, I could pronounce it done.
Sargie suggested I label the top of the paints so they could be more easily found. As usual, Sargie's suggestion was a good one.
The only other thing accomplished in the shop yesterday was to cut out two more puzzles. My goal is still to have them finished and in the mail by week's end.
Sargie wasn't home until late last night, but thankfully, has today off. I'm heading out to the shop for a bit until she's ready to go to town and pick up Mom's car from the mechanic's. No doubt, we'll take a ride around the countryside, purchase a few groceries, and take it easy otherwise.
Tonight is my Santa debut. I'm mentally prepared to listen to all the little munchkins and do my mental best to make their dreams come true.
Mine did. I wanted a carrying tray and I got it.
After all, everyone knows that...
Where there's a will, there's a tray!
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
