Sister-in-law, Trish, and Sargie, at the Mighty Milligan Thanksgiving Day Celebration. Niece Sasha is supplying the bunny ears.

Pictures of the Thanksgiving Day celebration will be partway down today's blog. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it possible.

Friday was a busy one on Pentoga Road. Neighbor Mike called first thing in the morning needing help loading a nice buck to take back to Marquette.

Together, we made short work of getting the deer into his SUV and spent some time talking and catching up on our Thanksgiving holiday.

Back home, I began lugging totes from the storage shed to the house.

You know, I've always thought that as a couple grows older together, they begin to divest themselves of excess physical goods, you know, stuff. It doesn't work that way around here, at least when it comes to Christmas decorations.

Only a small percentage of the totes were brought in the house since there's not enough room to stack them all at once. One or two are emptied before I carry them back out and bring in one or two more. The head decorator kept me busy running between the storage shed and house yesterday.

Sargie worked all day putting up the tree and adding to the holiday decor.

There's a threatening look that says, "Get busy now or you're in BIG trouble." Is there no hope for the widow's son?
While Sargie was working on the Christmas tree, I drained the aquarium to make room for the holiday goodies in the dining room. The fish were relocated to the fifty gallon tote in the basement. By the way, the tote, bubbler, and filter, are working well for keeping the pond fish alive and well. We've not lost a one.

Lights were strung on the last two pyramids and kicked the Christmas spirit into overdrive last night when the sun set and the lights were turned on.

I have thought how nice it would be to have lighted pyramids down both sides of the drive, four or five on each side, but where would I plow the snow? A guy's got to stay somewhat practical and not get too carried away.

We took our afternoon drive, careful to dodge several herds of deer. Evidently most haven't heard that it's deer season.

It's just crazy at the numbers we are seeing this year. I worry about Sargie driving home from work in the dark as she has to be on the constant lookout for deer.

Two smaller trees and garland were purchased this afternoon to go on each side of the front door. Battery powered with LED lights, we hope to get those up in the next day or two.

A halt was called to our labors late Friday. I can't speak for Sargie, but this guy was a tired boy.

We had a wonderful conversation with Mississippi Brother Garry and Miss Jody last night. On speaker phone, the four of us gabbed away like a bunch of junior high kids, all sitting in a car together. Jody's busy decorating and it sounded as though Garry's being kept busy with honey-do jobs.

As I mentioned earlier, Thanksgiving Day at Ross and Holly's was filled with laughter, love, and of course, great eating.

The pictures best tell the story:

I always hate to see Thanksgiving come and go as it's one of my favorite holidays. Never fear, Christmas is right around the corner and with it, more family gatherings.

The lake is just feet from Holly and Ross's back deck
Sargie and I plan to continue decorating today. Since she's the Chair of the Pentoga Road Decoration Committee, Inc., I'll let her take the lead and shuffle along in her footsteps. Honestly, decorating is not my thing, but I do enjoy keeping her company.

Meanwhile, it's time for a cup of coffee and who knows, I might even think a deep thought or two before beginning the day.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
